Field Service Engineer

Location: UK with Global Travel

Compensation: Approximately £53,000

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer with extensive experience in programming, instructing, and diagnosing equipment that includes robotic systems and robotic arm installations from leading manufacturers.

Key Duties of the Field Service Engineer:

  • Programming and diagnosing robotic machinery and control systems.
  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs, including PanelView Plus HMIs and various industrial communication networks.
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex machine motion and operational controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) functions and programming.
  • Skilled in interpreting and troubleshooting pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Providing on-site support for integrated packaging machinery in the consumer products sector.
  • Engaging in extensive travel and performing physical tasks such as lifting and climbing.

Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer:

  • Foster teamwork and adhere to company policies and values.
  • Conduct system wiring checks and troubleshooting.
  • Perform site assessments and engage in technical discussions at client locations.
  • Program robots, PLCs, and HMIs from various manufacturers.
  • Update project documentation with as-built details following interventions.
  • Certify equipment and projects as complete, ensuring they meet operational standards.
  • Commission and troubleshoot equipment on client sites, providing remote assistance as necessary.
  • Oversee contractors working within the company's scope of work.
  • Deliver training to client operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure the latest software versions are uploaded and documented on the company network.
  • Complete assigned tasks within set timelines and budget constraints.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Be prepared for national and international travel, sometimes on short notice.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge, which may involve travel.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in Robotic and Automation Systems, preferably in the packaging sector.
  • Relevant engineering education to HNC/HND level.
  • Desirable experience in software design and control systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to translate various forms of information into project documentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively.
