Responsibilities:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will take on additional responsibilities and play a vital role in enriching the academic and professional landscape. Your duties will include:

  • Leading initiatives in curriculum development, mentoring colleagues to uphold the highest standards in teaching and learning.
  • Collaborating with academic leadership in spearheading curriculum enhancement initiatives.

Programme Development and Management:

  • Lead the creation, management, and evaluation of academic programs within your discipline.
  • Assess and guide colleagues' work to elevate the quality of educational offerings.

Research and Professional Growth:

  • Engage in advanced research endeavors, contributing to the academic stature of ESL and remaining at the forefront of developments in the field.
  • Actively participate in institutional research initiatives, fostering a culture of innovation and inquiry.

Quality Assurance and Improvement:

  • Play a crucial role in the ongoing enhancement of teaching and learning standards, implementing and overseeing self-assessment processes.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of quality improvement strategies.

External Relations and Partnerships:

  • Strengthen collaborations with external stakeholders, industry partners, and employers to enrich the student experience and promote cooperative initiatives.
  • Represent ESL at external engagements, enhancing the institution's reputation and standing.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction across various programs within a higher education context, focusing on foundational courses in your area of expertise.
  • Provide personalized support to students, assisting them in achieving their academic objectives and fostering positive progression.
  • Actively contribute to the development and continuous enhancement of courses, collaborating effectively with faculty and students.
  • Participate in the design of module/unit-specific Schemes of Work.
  • Create module materials for the courses being taught.
  • Facilitate subject-specific sessions aligned with the Learning Outcomes and syllabuses of the modules.
  • Implement assessments as outlined by the assessment team.
  • Establish measures to understand the learning needs of students in your modules.
  • Provide timely formative feedback as specified by program guidelines.
  • Grade and deliver summative feedback within the deadlines set by the Assessment Team.
  • Ensure adherence to the expectations of the Programme Specification of relevant Awarding Bodies and Universities.
  • Generate appropriate module/unit reports.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Contribute to the School's Research Department.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • Doctoral qualification in a relevant subject area (Senior Lecturer Only).
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in higher education teaching in the UK (Senior Lecturer).
  • Master's degree in a relevant subject area (Minimum requirement for Lecturer).
  • Prior lecturing experience in similar courses at the higher education level.
  • Proficiency in using Blackboard/VLEs, MS Teams, and Zoom.
  • PhD in a relevant field (Senior Lecturer only).
  • Native English speaker or possess current IELTS 7.5 Academic Certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and oversee implementation of program development plans and assess colleagues' work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior educational professionals.
  • Capacity to build and maintain effective teacher-student relationships.

Desirable:

  • Possession of a teaching qualification such as FHEA or PGCHE, reflecting a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
  • A comprehensive understanding of maintaining strong cross-cultural and interpersonal relationships.
  • High-level communication and presentation skills.
