Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Academic, you will take on additional responsibilities that are vital to enriching the academic and professional landscape. Your role will include:

  • Leadership in Curriculum Development: Guide and mentor colleagues to uphold the highest standards in teaching and learning.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside the Head of Academics or the Dean to spearhead initiatives for curriculum enhancement.

Programme Management:

  • Lead the development, management, and evaluation of academic programs within your area of expertise.
  • Oversee and assess colleagues' work, providing constructive feedback to improve quality.

Research Engagement:

  • Participate in advanced research activities, contributing to ESL's academic profile and remaining updated on field developments.
  • Engage in university research programs, promoting a culture of innovation.

Quality Assurance:

  • Play a key role in enhancing teaching and learning standards through continuous improvement processes.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of quality enhancement strategies.

External Relations:

  • Strengthen partnerships with external stakeholders and industry partners to enrich the student experience.
  • Represent ESL at external events, enhancing the institution's reputation.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction across various programs, focusing on foundational courses in your discipline.
  • Provide personalized tutoring to support students in achieving their academic objectives.
  • Actively engage in course development and improvement, collaborating with staff and students.
  • Create detailed module/unit-specific Schemes of Work and develop module materials.
  • Facilitate subject-specific sessions aligned with learning outcomes and syllabuses.
  • Implement assessments as outlined by the assessment team and provide timely feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with the standards set by respective Awarding Bodies and Universities.
  • Prepare comprehensive module/unit reports.
  • Communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Contribute to the Research Department of the School.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • Doctoral qualification in a relevant field (Senior Academic Only).
  • Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience at the HE level in the UK (Senior Academic).
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Minimum requirement for Lecturer).
  • Previous experience in lecturing similar courses at the Higher Education level.
  • Proficiency in using Blackboard/VLEs, MS Teams, and Zoom.
  • Native English speaker or current IELTS 7.5 Academic Certification.
  • Ability to prepare and implement program development plans and assess colleagues' work.
  • Strong communication skills with senior education professionals.
  • Ability to foster effective teacher/learner relationships with students.

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification such as FHEA or PGCHE, demonstrating a commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Deep understanding of maintaining positive cross-cultural and interpersonal relationships.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
