Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Academic, you will take on additional responsibilities, significantly contributing to the academic and professional landscape. Your role will include:

  • Curriculum Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside the Head of Academics or the Dean to spearhead initiatives for curriculum enhancement.

Programme Development and Management:

  • Lead the development, management, and evaluation of academic programs within your area of expertise.
  • Assess and support colleagues’ work, providing constructive feedback to elevate the quality of education.

Research and Professional Growth:

  • Engage in advanced research activities, enhancing the academic profile of ESL and staying updated with field advancements.
  • Participate actively in university research initiatives, promoting a culture of innovation.

Quality Assurance and Improvement:

  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of teaching and learning standards, implementing and monitoring self-assessment processes.
  • Assist in developing and executing quality improvement strategies.

External Engagement:

  • Strengthen partnerships with external stakeholders, industry partners, and employers to enrich the student experience.
  • Represent ESL at external events, enhancing the institution's reputation.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction across various programs, focusing on foundational courses in your discipline.
  • Provide tailored support to students, helping them achieve their academic objectives.
  • Actively engage in course development and continuous improvement, collaborating with staff and students.
  • Prepare module materials and assessments aligned with learning outcomes.
  • Offer timely formative feedback and ensure compliance with program specifications.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • Doctoral qualification in a relevant subject area (Senior Academic only).
  • Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience at the Higher Education level in the UK (Senior Academic).
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (Minimum requirement for Lecturer).
  • Experience in lecturing similar courses at the Higher Education level.
  • Proficiency in using educational technologies such as Blackboard/VLEs, MS Teams, and Zoom.
  • Native English speaker or possess current IELTS 7.5 Academic Certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior educational professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with students.

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification such as FHEA or PGCHE.
  • Understanding of cross-cultural and interpersonal dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
