We are excited to announce an opportunity to join the Unaccompanied Asylum Seeker Children (UASC) Team as a Persons Advisor. This role is designed for individuals who are dedicated to supporting young asylum seekers in their journey to rebuild their lives.

Do you possess experience in working with unaccompanied minors? Are you eager to engage in a dynamic, challenging, and fulfilling position? If you are passionate about positively impacting the lives of young asylum seekers, this role is for you.

As part of a newly established specialist UASC team, you will assist young individuals from their entry into the community and support them throughout their transition into adulthood.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide ongoing support to young adults over 18 who are unaccompanied care leavers, focusing on their asylum applications, housing, training, and employment.
  • Manage case responsibilities for these individuals and develop Pathway Plans until they reach 21 years of age.
  • Conduct regular welfare visits and lead Pathway Review meetings to evaluate and address risks or unmet needs related to housing, education, finances, health, and asylum applications.
  • Offer guidance and advice on various subjects to help clients establish secure foundations in their communities and enhance their chances of independent living.
  • Participate in regular supervision sessions with a manager or senior social worker.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Attend team meetings and engage in shadowing opportunities to deepen your understanding of UASC and care leaver protocols.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • A relevant practitioner level qualification at Level 3 or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Strong communication skills with a commitment to understanding young adults facing challenging issues such as family loss, mental health challenges, substance misuse, and criminality.
  • A comprehensive understanding of safeguarding concerns and specific risks associated with UASC and adult care leavers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proficiency with computer systems, paperwork, and case documentation.

We encourage you to review the full list of requirements. If you believe you can excel in this role, we welcome your application. Even if you do not meet all the criteria, we would appreciate the opportunity to consider your candidacy.

About the Team

Our team specializes in immigration matters, dedicated to assisting vulnerable individuals in overcoming adversity and trauma. We facilitate asylum applications, aiming to help clients secure their legal status in the UK.

Our team members are passionate about empowering young people to rebuild their lives after experiencing significant challenges. Many of our clients arrive unaccompanied and often face language barriers, making them particularly susceptible to exploitation and discrimination.

Commitment to Diversity

We believe in the potential and power of diverse ideas. We strive to create an inclusive environment that respects and enables everyone to achieve their best. We welcome applications from all individuals, particularly those from underrepresented groups within our organization.
