About the Position

We are seeking a Minor Works Surveyor to become a vital part of our Investment and Compliance Team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing the living conditions of our residents and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Programme Manager in developing minor works initiatives, including sustainability projects, while collaborating with various service departments.
  • Oversee the execution of minor works projects from initiation to completion, ensuring sustainability standards are met.
  • Coordinate with contractors to guarantee that projects are completed on schedule, within financial constraints, and to exceptional quality standards.
  • Engage with consultants and contractors to ensure timely delivery of sustainability retrofit projects, adhering to budgetary guidelines and quality benchmarks.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including CDM requirements, throughout project execution.
  • Manage urgent minor works projects as necessary.

Candidate Profile

The successful applicant will possess a degree in Building Surveying or a related field and hold membership in RICS, CIOB, or an equivalent professional body.

Additionally, candidates should have completed a NEBOSH or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or a comparable qualification.

Required Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience in delivering minor works projects and managing building contracts from inception to completion within the social housing sector or a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainability retrofit projects.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive work schedules.
  • Experience in budget management and addressing financial discrepancies.
  • Capability to manage multiple contracts while fostering long-term relationships within a contract management framework.
  • Understanding of contract law, building construction practices, and relevant regulations.
  • Familiarity with health and safety legislation, including asbestos management and CDM requirements.
  • Experience in the procurement and initiation of contracts.
