Position Overview

We are excited to present an opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Clinical Nutrition Specialist or an aspiring student in dietetics to become a part of our inpatient services team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage a diverse and demanding caseload that includes general medicine, orthopedic care, and geriatric nutrition. You will also conduct regular outpatient consultations, assist in the orientation programs for other healthcare professionals, and engage in clinical audits.

You will receive guidance from senior nutrition specialists and have the chance to refine and expand your dietetic expertise across various fields, including respiratory care, stroke rehabilitation, gastroenterology, and surgical nutrition. Regular supervision and opportunities to attend relevant external training sessions will be provided. Additionally, you will participate in our established student training program for placements, contributing to audits and service enhancement initiatives.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics or an equivalent qualification, or currently a qualifying student.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or qualifying student status.

Desirable

  • Membership in the British Dietetic Association.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working with a diverse range of inpatients in an acute care setting within the NHS or equivalent.
  • Experience in conducting outpatient consultations.
  • Experience working with patient groups.
  • Experience as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Up-to-date clinical knowledge regarding nutritional management of various clinical conditions based on current best practices.
  • Strong understanding of national policies and procedures related to nutrition and dietetics.
  • Good knowledge of clinical governance principles.

Desirable

  • Clinical experience post-graduation.
  • Experience contributing to service development initiatives and participating in clinical audits.
  • Knowledge of clinical audit principles.
  • Experience in teaching and training others.

Skills
