About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Metastatic Colorectal Cancer CNS Team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-depth knowledge and expertise on the care pathway and complex needs of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer.
  • Work clinically with patients and carers to provide specialist nursing advice and practical and psychosocial support, including holistic assessments and personalized care plans.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day running of the service and provide ongoing support for junior members of the team, including undertaking annual appraisals and performance reviews.
  • Act as a patient advocate and support decision-making within the weekly Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
  • Work collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, diagnostic services, inpatient and outpatient teams to provide a holistic and patient-centered service.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with a degree qualification in a relevant field.
  • Post-registration qualification in colorectal, oncology, or palliative care.
  • Advanced communication skills training.
  • Experience of managing self and working unsupervised or with minimal supervision for at least three years.
  • Knowledge of current management of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer and current clinical and nursing research related to this area.
