Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and skilled Clinical Biochemistry Specialist to join our esteemed team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. This role is suitable for candidates at Band 6 or Band 6 Annex 21, depending on qualifications.

Our department is accredited under ISO 15189, emphasizing our commitment to quality in patient care. We take pride in delivering a service that prioritizes quality and invests in both our personnel and advanced technology.

The Clinical Biochemistry division operates across two locations, ensuring a continuous 24/7 service. Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Roche 8000 and Cobas Pros for Chemistry and Immunoassay, Sebia for electrophoresis, and various other advanced analyzers.

Candidate Profile:

We seek individuals who possess a thorough understanding of the standards required for a quality-focused clinical biochemistry service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to perform under pressure, exhibit flexibility, and utilize their initiative while maintaining excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Upon achieving the necessary competencies, the successful candidate will be required to participate in the out-of-hours rota, which includes weekend, evening, and overnight shifts. Band 6 Specialists will be eligible for additional Recruitment & Retention premiums alongside standard unsocial hours payments. The role will primarily be based at one site, with cross-site duties as needed.

Our department holds full training status with the IBMS, and Band 6 Annex 21 Biomedical Scientists will receive support for their Specialist Portfolio. We are committed to facilitating further education opportunities, including IBMS expert practice, Higher Specialist Diplomas, and other postgraduate qualifications.

Relocation and Support:

We offer relocation assistance of up to £8000 (subject to meeting essential criteria) and a recruitment and retention premium of up to £4,707 pro rata per annum, in addition to support for professional development.
