Clinical Oncology Specialist

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join our team of medical and clinical oncologists at the Kent Oncology Centre in Maidstone, providing services to patients from East and West Kent.
The successful candidate will take a major interest in Head and Neck (H&N) oncology, providing high-quality care to patients and contributing to the development of cancer services in Kent.
As a member of the Kent Oncology Centre, the post holder will participate fully in a Kent-wide approach to the delivery of cancer care, including attendance at governance meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings, and cross-referral with other site specialists.
- To work collaboratively with other medical, professional, and managerial colleagues to provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the Trust's strategic direction.
- To participate actively in departmental audits, sharing coordination of audit activities and implementing change.
- To take responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training, and supervision.
- To assume responsibility for the management of junior medical staff, promoting their professional development and well-being.
- To support research activities and encourage the inclusion of research in normal clinical work.
- Full GMC registration
- FRCR or equivalent (Entry on the Specialist Register as a clinical oncologist or eligibility for entry within 6 months)
- Higher qualification in Medicine
- Clinical experience in relevant tumour sites
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in specialty
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Experience in clinical audit and research
- Experience in medical education
- Enthusiasm for developing tumour site specialisation and cancer services in Kent
- Ability to organise and manage
- Interest and capacity to teach and learn from members of the multidisciplinary team
- Dedication to maintaining and developing the cancer care group in co-operation with other hospital departments
- Staff management: delegating, appraisal of performance, dealing with poor performance, coaching, and motivating
- Ability to work in a team
- Good interpersonal skills
- Caring attitude to patients
- Commitment to continuing medical education
- Awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses
