About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Oncologist to join our team at the Kent Oncology Centre in Maidstone. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with urology and gynae oncology conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate fully in and share leadership of the clinical governance of the specialty, covering its Trust-wide activities.
  • Attend clinical governance half-days as detailed in the Trust's Guide to job planning, unless on agreed leave or while attending emergencies.
  • Participate actively in departmental audits, sharing coordination of audit activities within the department and implementation of change.
  • Take an active responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training, and supervision.
  • Assume responsibility, both personally and corporately with consultant colleagues, for the management of junior medical staff.
Person Specification
  • Full GMC registration.
  • FRCR.
  • Entry on the Specialist Register as a Clinical Oncologist or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the advisory appointments committee.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Higher qualification in Medicine.
  • Research degree (MD/PhD).
  • Clinical Experience in relevant tumour sites.
  • Clinical Experience in Brachytherapy.
Skills and Personal Qualities
  • Enthusiasm for developing tumour site specialisation and Cancer Services in Kent.
  • Ability to organise and manage.
  • Interest and capacity to teach and learn from members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Dedication to maintaining and developing the cancer care group in co-operation with other hospital departments.
  • Staff management: delegating, appraisal of performance, dealing with poor performance, coaching, and motivating.
