At Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, we are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Acute Oncology Team. As a key member of the team, you will provide expert nursing leadership to support nursing and medical colleagues in delivering seamless care to oncology patients presenting acutely to the Emergency Department. Your extensive knowledge and experience in acute medicine, emergency department, and oncology nursing will be invaluable in this role.


The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be highly motivated, and possess excellent communication skills. You will work independently to organise and maintain a high-quality Clinical Nurse Specialist service for patients admitted acutely unwell to the trust, with a suspicion of a new cancer diagnosis. You will also contribute to the delivery and evaluation of evidence-based patient care throughout the appropriate treatment pathway.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Providing expert nursing leadership to support nursing and medical colleagues in delivering seamless care to oncology patients
  • Organising and maintaining a high-quality Clinical Nurse Specialist service for patients admitted acutely unwell to the trust
  • Contributing to the delivery and evaluation of evidence-based patient care throughout the appropriate treatment pathway
  • Working independently to assess the clinical and holistic needs of patients and liaising with the oncology team and wider multidisciplinary teams
