About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Oncologist to join our team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. As a Clinical Oncologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with urology and gynae oncology conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate fully in and share leadership of the clinical governance of the specialty, covering its Trust-wide activities.
  • Attend clinical governance half-days as detailed in the Trust's Guide to job planning, unless on agreed leave or while attending emergencies.
  • Participate actively in departmental audits, sharing co-ordination of audit activities within the department and implementation of change.
  • Take an active responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training, and supervision.
  • Assume responsibility, both personally and corporately with consultant colleagues, for the management of junior medical staff.
  • Encourage the inclusion of research in normal clinical work and support developing research activities for interested applicants.
Person Specification
  • Full GMC registration.
  • FRCR.
  • Entry on the Specialist Register as a Clinical Oncologist or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the advisory appointments committee.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Higher qualification in Medicine.
  • Research degree (MD/PhD).
  • Clinical Experience in relevant tumour sites.
  • Clinical Experience in Brachytherapy.
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Clinical Training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in specialty.
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
Desirable Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in Clinical Audit and Research.
  • Experience in Medical Education.
Personal Qualities
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Caring attitude to patients.
  • Commitment to continuing medical education.
  • An awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses.
