Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children's Home Registered Manager to join our team at Apple Orchard. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care and support for our young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Oversee the weekly budgeting of cash and petty cash, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with company policies.
  • Staff Supervision: Facilitate regular staff meetings and supervision sessions to promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Training and Development: Arrange and participate in training sessions to enhance your professional skills and stay up-to-date with national developments in childcare policies and practices.
  • Statutory Reviews: Chair statutory and in-house reviews for all young people, ensuring their needs are met and their rights are respected.
  • Incident Management: Provide guidance and support to staff during incidents, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people and staff.
  • Staff Management: Oversee staff annual leave, ensure accurate rota management, and promote a positive work-life balance.
  • Risk Management: Conduct thorough risk assessments for all house activities, ensuring the safety and security of young people and staff.
  • Accountability: Be accountable for all decisions made regarding the welfare of young people and staff, ensuring their rights and needs are respected.
  • Partnership Working: Support and encourage young people to participate in decision-making and planning, promoting their autonomy and self-advocacy.
  • Performance Management: Participate in staff individual supervision, ensuring staff are equipped to meet the needs of young people.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Residential child care setting at a Senior level within the last five years.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing the Quality Care Standards for Children's Homes.
  • Experience of carrying out administrative duties such as filing, recording, rota preparation, and report writing for Children's Homes.
  • Professional qualification at Level 4/5 'Working with Children and Young People' (or equivalent).
  • A willingness and desire to pursue further training.
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding and/or Recruitment Training.
  • Ability to apply for Registered Managers status with Ofsted and undergo an interview to determine suitability.
