Job Overview

The Mechanical Engineering team within the Medical Physics department is responsible for the conceptualization, development, and production of medical devices and various apparatus for a diverse clientele, including healthcare providers and academic institutions. Our work supports critical patient care services, research initiatives, and enhances the overall quality of healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineering facilities at our organization are equipped with advanced tools and technologies, including CAD/CAM systems and 3D printing capabilities. Our workshops are designed to meet stringent quality standards, specifically ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.

About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to become part of a dedicated team of engineers. This role offers numerous opportunities for skill enhancement and professional growth within a dynamic environment that prioritizes clinical services and innovative research.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong alignment with our organizational values, emphasizing patient-centered care. Job Duties

The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training in mechanical workshop technologies and will utilize machine tools to create custom designs.

Previous experience in a healthcare mechanical workshop is preferred.

Proficiency in CNC programming and CAD software is mandatory.

Candidates should have experience working within a formal quality management system and possess problem-solving skills for complex mechanical engineering challenges.

  • Proficient in using software such as Excel and Word for document creation and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, HSE, RIDDOR, and COSHH.
  • Experience with quality management systems.

Desirable Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical devices and healthcare systems.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with machine tools and practical workshop techniques.
  • Significant practical experience in mechanical workshop operations, techniques, and design.

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with CAD and CAM systems in a workshop environment.

  • Completion of a mechanical engineering apprenticeship or an equivalent qualification.
