CK Group is seeking a Mechanical Technician to work with a leading organization in the chemical sector focused on waste management. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a competitive salary of up to £36,000 annually.

Location:
This position is based in Sunderland, easily accessible from surrounding areas via well-connected roadways.

Position Overview:
The Mechanical Technician will have a broad range of engineering expertise and relevant practical experience for troubleshooting and installation tasks. The ideal candidate will hold CompEx Mechanical qualifications and have experience in hazardous environments. Familiarity with top-tier CoMAH regulations and associated environmental, health, and safety legislative requirements is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee workload to ensure safe, standardized, and efficient maintenance of all machinery and equipment according to CMMS task instructions, legal obligations, and technical documentation.
  • Complete daily tasks to established standards using CMMS job sheets for routine maintenance, repairs, and testing of site equipment, ensuring accurate job completion.
  • Responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of all relevant mechanical systems, ensuring all work is performed to the highest standards and within required timelines.
  • Collaborate with the engineering supervisor to complete CMMS tasks and ensure timely closure of jobs.
  • Work alongside the engineering supervisor to ensure that all mechanical project plans, improvements, repairs, and shutdowns are executed to the appropriate standards and timelines.
  • Contribute to the planning and installation of capital projects, including providing labor, supervising contract workers, and ensuring thorough commissioning and handover of installed systems.
  • Identify necessary repairs, upgrades, and routine maintenance to maximize plant availability and efficiency.
  • Report any equipment defects, faults, or alarms, ensuring that any issues are managed appropriately and that unsafe items are isolated and communicated.
  • Support the engineering department by flexibly responding to business needs through additional tasks, including basic electrical work and forklift operation, in line with competencies and departmental requirements.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
  • HNC Degree or equivalent apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience working on COMAH or PSSR sites.
