About the Senior BDM - Commercial REF Role

Our client, a leading Challenger Bank, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Development Manager to join their team in Manchester/North West. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities, building relationships with key clients and intermediaries, and driving sales growth in the Commercial Real Estate lending sector.

Purpose of the Senior BDM - Commercial REF Role

The primary objective of this role is to:

  • Identify and develop business opportunities that align with the bank's strategic objectives and business plan.
  • Generate compliant and profitable sales through the achievement of sales targets, while ensuring good customer outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior BDM - Commercial REF will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing a sales strategy for their respective region and target market, in collaboration with the Regional Director.
  • Identifying and developing sales opportunities from new to bank customers and brokers, to generate compliant sales and achieve maximum profitability.
  • Working closely with the Sales and Operations Team to effectively onboard and drawdown deals for new to bank clients.
  • Maintaining accurate records of sales and annual review activity, and preparing regular forecasts to enable effective forward planning.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication links with all relevant departments and bank staff to identify sales opportunities and process improvements.
Experience and Knowledge Required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven record of success in business development and sales, preferably in a related industry.
  • Experience in leading a team and developing individuals to maximize performance.
  • An understanding of the relevant rules under the financial services acts.
  • A high level of financial and commercial awareness, including credit analysis.
  • Excellent sales and interpersonal skills.
  • Impressive record of achieving targets.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • An understanding of Conduct Risk and Consumer Duty requirements.
