About Us

The Client

Our client has a visual impairment and therefore is seeking an administrative support to help in his daily work tasks. The job is based at Bishop Auckland General Hospital but also involves doing other days at different hospital sites around Darlington.

PRIME OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB:
To provide support and assistance to enable the Lead Officer (Client) to carry out their duties in accordance with their employment role. Our client is a visually impaired professional who needs support with admin related tasks. You will support the client with sighted guiding, paper work and general admin support including computer work. Our client currently requires support for 21 hours a week. Enhanced DBS will be carried out for this role.

SUMMARY OF MAIN TASKS:
To offer general admin support to our visually impaired client.

To input information into databases, create tables, graphs and documents with guidance from the client

To help create reports and presentations.

To travel to work events and training sessions with our client.

To act as a sighted guide in unfamiliar indoor, outdoor or cluttered environments as well as in the office.

To assist the client with the completion of forms and other documents as appropriate.

To read written material as necessary including handwritten material and notes for/to the Lead Officer.

To take electronic notes in meetings on behalf of the client, where necessary.

To communicate effectively with the client

To establish positive professional working relationships and boundaries with the client’s colleagues and service users.

To actively participate in supervision and appraisal.

Adherence to the local policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and the Grace Health and Social Care’s Code of Conduct, actively promoting equality and diversity.

To undertake relevant training in order to improve personal performance, knowledge and skills.

SKILLS:

- The ability to communicate effectively including good written communication skills.
- You must hold a clean driving licence and have access to a car.
- Experience using Microsoft packages including proficiency in Excel and in PowerPoint. You need to be able to create graphs, formulas, tables etc in Excel.
- You must have experience in creating PowerPoint presentations
- The ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues, professionals, service users and with people from a range of social, cultural and ethnical backgrounds.
- The ability to work in a supportive capacity without taking over the role of the Lead Officer (Client).
- Experience working with people who have a visual impairment is not essential but will be an added advantage

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE:
No direct line management responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITY FOR RESOURCES:
Basic responsibility for work related equipment e.g. Computers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities

INITIATIVE:
To be able to work on own initiative

MENTAL EFFORT:
Processing of paperwork related to the role of the client.

Use of computer programmes, data bases and different software.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office based with some off site work

OTHER DUTIES AND CONDITIONS:
The Admin Support Worker may be asked to do other duties commensurate with the role and the grade.

**Salary**: £11.70-£12.70 per hour
