Hepatitis C Odn Project Support Worker

Bristol, United Kingdom University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are looking for a full-time, experienced, dynamic, organised individual with excellent communication and IT skills to work on specific projects related to the treatment of Hepatitis C and Liver Cancer surveillance.

We are a small, friendly team looking for a full-time project support worker, some of which could be done from home. Proven experience of project management will be an advantage, but essentially the skills we require are excellent planning and organisation. NHS experience is not essential, but would be an advantage. The role will also include generating communications for promotion of events, some stock maintenance and ordering and maintaining a database.

The main duties of this job will be to provide project support and organisation for a number of projects related to the treatment of Hepatitis C and Liver Cancer Surveillance. These projects feed into a national programme to eliminate Hepatitis C and improve ongoing surveillance of people who are at risk of liver cancer. A lot of the work in these projects involves our nurses going out into the community to organisations, charities, events and homeless shelters to offer testing and treatment to people who may not regularly come into contact with their GP or other healthcare professionals. Your role will be to plan, organise and promote these events, and to help the people identified through this work to attend appointments at hospital by offering incentives, tracking their appointments, and entering details about the project activities into a database so we can keep track of how well the project is doing. Ideally you would be a friendly and approachable person who feels comfortable speaking to patients and members of the public. You will work on a number of different projects over 12 months, so the role will be varied and provide a breadth of experience.

Our team sits within Hepatology and is based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and is responsible for the smooth running of work under the Hepatitis C Operational Delivery Network, which is a regional network of which UHBW is the lead. The team is made up mainly of Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) who deliver outpatient and outreach work. The CNS team is supported by an admin team who ensure the smooth running of the weekly MDT and support patients with Hepatitis C onto treatment. You would also be joining our Liver Specialist Support Worker who does a similar job to this role, but specifically for the Alright My Liver project. The team is overseen by a Lead Nurse, Clinical Lead and Project Manager. The team work collaboratively to deliver all the work under the Hep C ODN and this role will become a valuable part of supporting projects to run smoothly.
