Overview:
In the pursuit of enhancing hepatitis C treatment, NHS England has established 22 Operational Delivery Networks (ODN) throughout the country, aimed at improving local treatment access and ensuring all patients receive necessary care, irrespective of their location.

This initiative seeks to address historical service gaps and aims for the ambitious goal of eliminating hepatitis C by 2025, supported by additional funding for patient identification and treatment across the UK.

About the Bristol and Severn Region Hepatitis C Network:
The Bristol and Severn Region Hepatitis C Network (ODN) includes a primary hub at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Trust, complemented by treatment centers in Bath, Gloucestershire, North Bristol, and Yeovil.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Project Support Coordinator for the Hepatitis C Operational Delivery Network, your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Collaborating closely with Specialist Nurses, clinicians, and support organizations to facilitate effective program management and ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Assisting in the ongoing planning of projects to meet deliverables within the specified timelines.
  • Preparing documentation for multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Accurately gathering and documenting patient-level data, maintaining and entering information into local and national databases to ensure timely patient care.
  • Overseeing patient recall systems for radiology appointments and coordinating necessary transportation.
  • Managing the incentive components of the program.

Coordination Duties:
Your coordination responsibilities will include:

  • Working in tandem with the Hep C ODN team to manage patients diagnosed with Hepatitis C/B, adapting to varying circumstances as needed.
  • Making informed decisions to effectively manage project resources and budgets.
  • Communicating essential updates and changes to stakeholders regarding project developments.
  • Responding to liver scan results and scheduling relevant follow-up appointments.
  • Collecting and inputting data into various databases to ensure compliance with national standards.
  • Utilizing IT applications to conduct audits of project data for ongoing monitoring.

Tracking Responsibilities:
Key tracking responsibilities will involve:

  • Collaborating to develop processes for monitoring patient progress through their treatment pathways, ensuring a seamless service.
  • Maintaining access to calendar systems.
  • Supporting the Hepatitis C ODN team in monitoring patients with cirrhosis.
  • Tracking patients and maintaining an updated list for follow-up scans.
  • Liaising with patients to coordinate transport for hard-to-reach cohorts.
  • Ensuring effective communication with medical and nursing staff, clerical colleagues, and external stakeholders to facilitate excellent service delivery.
  • Providing regular updates to the project team on project developments and any unexpected changes.
  • Coordinating with Specialist Nurses regarding patient results.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Possessing a solid understanding of Medway, ICE, and other information management systems.
  • Exemplifying a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Collaborating with various staff and departments to ensure consistent high-quality care.
  • Developing and implementing new policies and processes as necessary.
  • Maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Understanding patient rights and confidentiality legislation to make informed decisions.
  • Adhering to all relevant legislation and best practice guidelines.

This role is pivotal in supporting the operational delivery of hepatitis C services, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care throughout their treatment journey.
