This post is based across our BSGW Cluster (Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire) and you will provide BBV support across 4 prisons; HMP's Ashfield, Bristol, Erelstoke & Leyhill.

Main duties of the job

As the BBV Regional Lead, you will play a pivotal role in developing strategies to prevent and control the spread of blood-borne viruses, including HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C, within the BSGW region. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, public health experts, and other stakeholders to drive innovative programs and interventions. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that our initiatives are evidence-based, impactful, and aligned with national best practices.

About us

Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS healthcare services to people in community and secure environment settings. Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Job responsibilities

Work closely with teams at all sites as a specialist clinician to optimise BBV screening and linkage to care.

Lead on any pathway optimisation required with support from Devon and Dorset BBV lead in line with Oxleas prison BBV policy.

Deliver expert training to multidisciplinary teams in BBV awareness and management.

Lead on the implementation of strategies to optimise health promotion/ improvement and disease prevention.

Ensure that when working with partner organisations, patients right to confidentiality and consent are maintained.

Use S1 to analyse and present progress data to interested parties such as Gilead sciences, NHSE, ODNs.

Demonstrate project management skills to plan and implement targeted testing/ public health/ health promotion events where suitable.

Ensure patients in our care have equitable access to treatment for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV regardless of their movement through the justice system.

Seek support from Devon and Dorset BBV lead to challenge and allay treatment delays/ interruptions.

Requires means of transport to access all sites within region.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ:

A ll applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting in order to work in a Prison Setting. This will be completed as part of the pre-employment checks through Oxleas and the prison vetting team.

Address History:

5 years address history will be needed.

Applicants that are not UK Passport holders who provide less than 5 years UK address history will need to provide a Police Certificate which must be in English from where they resided previously.

Applicants who are UK Passport holders who have lived abroad for a period of more than six months during the last three years will need to provide a certificate of good conduct or an overseas police check in English from the countries resided in or visited.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse (RMN or RGN) NMC Registration

Experience

Essential

2 years post qual experience - preferably in prison setting Demonstrated involvement in health promotion activities. Working knowledge of treatment pathways and best practice in caring for those living with BBVs

Skills

Essential

Comfortable presenting data to different audiences and providing skills and awareness training. Able to adapt to the changing environments and pressures on healthcare teams.
