We are looking for a Youth Worker to assist in the development of programmes of work with young people within the 13-19 age range, which enhance their skills, confidence, personal and social learning to improve the quality of their lives and the communities which they belong.

**Start Date**:March 2024

**Rate of Pay**:£13-£15.50 per hour

**Hours**:16 hours per week, 3 nights a week, 4 hours each evening, 5-9pm

**Location**:Nertherley

**Temp or Perm**:Permanent

**Qualifications**:

- Level 2 or Level 3 Youth Work Required
- An approved and recognised Certificate in Youth and Community Work as defined by the JNC Report for Youth and Community Workers is desirable but not essential.
- Complementary training related to work with young people is desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to continued professional development.

**Responsibilities**:

- To contact and build effective relationships with young people, leading to the delivery of educational programmes supporting their development in citizenship, the arts, drama, music, sport, international experience, residential experience and peer education.
- Working directly with young people to develop their social education by providing programmes of activities, services and facilities.
- Establishing contact with and guiding young people as part of local programmes
- Assisting in the provision of advice and support to local community groups and agencies
- Assisting in the motivation, retention, development, and support of volunteers
- Assisting with service development by contributing to planning, delivery, and monitoring of local provisions
- Day to day administration to ensure smooth running of services.
- Implementing equal opportunities policies

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Ability to provide programme of activity with young people (aged 13-19) *
- Ability to contact, advise and guide young people in social education
- Ability to work within a team
- Record keeping - inclusive of membership, attendance, outcomes and achievements *
- Ability to contribute to Service and Unit planning
- Administrative skills: report writing, collecting/banking money
- Practical skills in arts, sports, life skills and IT
