Specialist Camhs Crisis Practitioner

London, United Kingdom East London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the East London CAMHS Crisis Service as a Specialist CAMHS Crisis Practitioner. We are seeking a practitioner to join our service who is passionate about providing high quality mental care to support vulnerable children, young people and their families in times of crisis.

The East London CAMHS Crisis Service delivers co-ordinated care to children, young people (up to 18th birthday) and their families in mental health crisis across City & Hackney, Newham & Tower Hamlets. This service can be accessed by young people attending hospital A&E departments and agreed community locations, unless their presenting issues are best served by local community services.

The service provides additional support via the existing 24hour crisis lines. Brief crisis interventions are offered for up to 4 weeks from assessment. This involves intensive support to prevent the need for admission or facilitate safe early discharge from acute hospitals. The Crisis Service works in close collaboration with CAMHS, A&E and psychiatric liaison teams, local authorities and emergency services. Face to face assessments are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with our crisis line service providing telephone support 09:00 to midnight.

The post holder will have a hospital and home borough from which to develop close working relationships and they will also need to provide cover to other hospitals/boroughs when needed. Post holders will work shifts to cover the service hours - 09-21:00/12-00:00/20:45-09:15, seven days a week. Requests for work/life balance agreements are welcomed and will be considered alongside service need. The role primarily entails providing therapeutic assessments and brief interventions to children, young people and their families referred to the service. The role also involves providing specialist advice, consultation and training to professional colleagues to improve biopsychosocial care.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

Please see JD (Job Description) and PS (Personal Specification) for full details of role requirements.
