Specialist CAMHS Practitioner Mental Health Support Team in Schools and Behaviour Support and Outreach Team

City & Hackney CAMHS are excited to be recruiting to the role of Specialist CAMHS Practitioner. This exciting post is based across Specialist CAMHS in the Behaviour Support and Outreach Team (BSO), and Mental Health Support in Schools Team (MHST).
For 2.5 days a week the post-holder will be based in the Mental Health Support in School Team (MHST). The MHST is part of an exciting programme funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. This service commenced in September 2019 and now receives recurrent funding.There is a specific focus on developing more access to help and improving the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools including special educational provisions and PRU’s..
Complimenting their work in early prevention and intervention, the post holder will be based in the Behaviour Support and Outreach pathway for the other 2.5 days per week. You will work collaboratively with children, young people and their families who present with multiple and complex needs relating to behaviours that challenge alongside co-existing difficulties, such as emotionally based school avoidance, mood disorders, attachment and trauma, and neurodevelopmental conditions.
This is an exciting community-based post, based across Specialist CAMHS, and Mental Health Support in Schools Team (MHST).

The role will include providing supervision and line management to Band 4 and 5 Education Mental Health Practitioners, trained in guided self-help approaches. It will also involve developing and delivering a wide range of interventions, projects and system change with the aim of whole school and whole community approaches to supporting young people’s mental health.
Complimenting this work in, the post holder will spend 2.5 days per week as part of the Behaviour Support and Outreach (BS&O) pathway in City & Hackney Specialist CAMHS, which is part of the East London NHS Foundation Trust and Hackney CAMHS Alliance. In this team the post holder will be offering flexible, evidence-based episodes of care including a range of assessment and treatment options such as individual, parenting, family therapy and group based interventions, as well as specialist CAMHS advice/consultation and liaison with other agencies. The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will have a high degree of professional autonomy, and will be expected to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.
Our team provide a variety of comprehensive specialist assessments and evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual approaches (e.g. CBT, DBT, EMDR, IPT-A, VIG and psychotherapy), systemic and family work (e.g. Family Therapy clinics, ABFT, parenting and narrative approaches), and group work (e.g. Non Violent Resistance and our outreach Boxing group). As part of the wider Hackney CAMHS Alliance, we also work closely with our partner agencies (including statutory and voluntary organisations) to provide specialist advice, consultation and multi-agency responses.
In addition to providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, risk management and interventions for young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties in Specialist Schools and Pupil Referral Units, the role will include providing supervision and line management to Band 4 and 5 Education Mental Health Practitioners, trained in guided self-help approaches.
