The post holders will be part of a multidisciplinary team conducting comprehensive needs and risk assessments and provide evidence and goal based and outcome-focused interventions to children and young people and families presenting with severe mental health difficulties.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health services in Tower Hamlets are evolving and changing, wanting the very best services for our children and young people. We are developing and transforming our local Tower Hamlets CAMHS Service offers with the increased need for working with children and young people with severe and complex mental health needs, often with underlying vulnerabilities and/or contextual adversity and accompanied high risk, requiring more than routine care over a longer period of time.

You will have the qualifications and experience to work in a busy and sometimes challenging Tier 3 CAMHS service.

**Purpose of the Job**:
To be part of the new Tower Hamlets CAMHS Complex Needs Team, providing timely, flexible and enhanced assessments and treatment to children and young people presenting with severe and enduring mental health difficulties with underlying vulnerabilities and/or contextual adversity and accompanied high risk.

Supporting chidlrne and young people with severe impairment of daily personal, interpersonal and educational functioning

The children and young people will be known to Tower Hamlets CAMHS or may be urgently referred by GP, school or Social Worker but not requiring a medical A&E intervention.

To provide assertive outreach mental health assessments in a variety of settings such as the young person’s home, GP surgeries, educational and social care settings as well as local CAMHS sites.

Where appropriate, joint working with care coordinators of the other CAMHS pathways and liaison with other agencies

To deliver medium to longer term psychological interventions, including CBT or CBTp or family therapy or DBT and support medication management

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities
- To take part in the provision of flexible and enhanced care, assessing risk level, mental state, and holistic need in young people across various community settings and to utilise evaluation and outcomes measures where appropriate
- Participate in weekly rota system addressing urgent complex needs
- To make safe, clinical judgements in often emotive and complex clinical scenarios.
- To provide comprehensive specialist assessments including risk assessments, for children, adolescents and their families/carers presenting with complex needs, based on having an in-depth knowledge of child development, family transition points and child and adolescent mental health disorders.
- To work in a culturally sensitive way and take into consideration issues of diversity and difference and creating opportunities for user involvement when possible.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner and where appropriate jointly with multidisciplinary/multiagency colleagues
- To be able to assess and provide or identify the appropriate format of intervention.
- To manage a small limited caseload in relation to children, young people and families with complex mental health needs. Be able to assess, plan, treat, and evaluate medium and longer term therapeutic interventions using appropriate models within an ethical framework
- To work collaboratively with the other agencies, such as Health, Social Services, Youth Justice, Voluntary sector and Education with the aim of promoting a comprehensive approach to improving the mental health of children and young people.
- To work collaboratively with parents/carers in assessment and care planning, sensitivity addressing complex needs.
- To recognise safeguarding concerns and be aware of the ACPC guidelines.
- To be familiar with legislative framework
