Band 7 - Specialist CAMHS Crisis Practitioner

This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialist CAMHS Crisis Practitioner to join the EL CAMHS Crisis service in a fixed term 12 month role. We are a seeking a practitioner to join our service who is passionate about providing high-quality mental care with children, young people and their families at times of crisis.

We deliver 24/7 coordinated care to children and young people and their families in mental health crisis across City & Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham. Our service can be accessed by young people attending hospital Emergency Departments and agreed community locations.

The role primarily entails providing crisis assessments and brief interventions to children, young people and their families referred to the service.

Shifts post-holder is required to work 7 days a week on the following shift patterns:

- Long day (09:00-21:00 responding to young people presenting in mental health crisis at Homerton, Royal London or Newham University Hospital AND 12:00-00:00 responding to contacts via the All Age Crisis lines)
- Night (20:45-09:15 responding to young people presenting in mental health crisis at Homerton, Royal London or Newham University Hospital, involves lone working from EL CAMHS Crisis)
- OPTIONAL Twilight (17:00-23:00, this is an additional shift the team are piloting to provide additional support to young people presenting during the night shift).
- To effectively triage and accept referrals to the service, liaising with other professionals and providing initial advice as appropriate.
- To provide comprehensive mental health and risk assessments of children, young people and their families/carers referred in crisis.
- To manage risk by putting in place care plans, safety & coping plans and other risk interventions in a variety of settings, e.g. A&E, paediatric wards and the community.

- To engage in assertive outreach work with children/young people and their families where appropriate.
