Deliver a variety of care and evidence based treatment interventions, on a one to one, family and group basis to promote recovery from eating disorders as deemed appropriate to the service area by the specialist team in partnership with children and young people with an ED and families/carers In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team develop pathways and share with other members of multi-disciplinary team and wider young people and families mental health service (BEEU) Establish and maintain strong links with members of BEEU, General Practice, schools, colleges, paediatric services, other healthcare settings, other professionals / workers and non-healthcare workers (e.g. sports coaches and dance teachers) for own caseload, thereby ensuring seamless short, medium and long term care planning for both medical and psychological care and treatment of each individual service user. To provide assessment and appropriate interventions to individuals with eating disorders. This should be in accordance with NICE guidance for Eating Disorders (2017).

To collaborate with the Clinical Lead in respect of overall service provision and caseload requirements of the Team. The post holder will manage a caseload of clients with Eating Disorders, and possible co morbidities within the community. To take the lead in clinical case meetings Safeguarding, TAC, Early Help and CPA reviews to ensure the needs of children and young people with an Eating Disorder and their families/carers are addressed to support their recovery Maintain accurate, detailed and comprehensive records of all clinical work, medical investigations and biochemistry results, whilst ensuring confidentiality of information. To provide psychotherapeutic assessment and intervention for children, young people and their families in collaboration with other team members, as appropriate.

This may include providing information about appropriate models of treatment, often involving highly complex issues and situations and thus requiring analysis, comparison and interpretation of a range of options. Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and to ensure effective intervention. This may include offering intensive support to children and young people in a variety of settings i.e. clinics, school, home Provide support, supervision and training to general hospital nursing staff, in the event of medical admissions to paediatric or general medical ward for medical stabilisation and/or whilst awaiting admission to specialist unit.

The creation of detailed and individualised care plans in partnership with children and young people with an Eating Disorder and their families/carers and others as required. Be responsible for the assessment of mental health and/or medical risk factors relating to children and young people with an Eating Disorder, including co-morbidity (e.g. suicidality, self-harming behaviours and medical risk associated with low weight and/or purging behaviours) seen in the community. This might require rapid, independent decision-making or judgements without immediate access to supervision.

Therefore, as well as possessing the ability to anticipate and resolve problems independently to establish safety and ongoing service user care, skill is also required in consulting with other experts and professionals where appropriate. Seek medical advice as necessary, for example when recommending hospital admission for medical stabilisation, e.g. for dehydration, rapid or severe weight loss, signs of bradycardia, and/or deterioration in mental state. Support with the design and delivery of specialised programs of care for service users treated in the community.

This may additionally involve the necessity to make decisions on behalf of children and young people with an Eating Disorder to provide alternative feeding, such as feeding supplements to enable sufficient weight restoration. To provide a consultation service to other professionals working with children and young people with eating disorders. To support the team leader in writing reports evaluating the service To contribute to the training of clinicians and to supervise trainees on placement as appropriate. To offer support and guidance to more junior colleagues as appropriate.
