Cyp Iapt: Trainee Systemic Family Practitioner

This is a training role within the Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (CYP-IAPT). The post-holder will work within the CAMH service providing interventions under supervision whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for
children, young people or families using the core principles of CYP-IAPT practice along with evidence based interventions consistent with the course they are attending. The post-holder will also develop their skills and experience so that they are equipped to function as a core member of the clinical team upon course completion. The post
- holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the CYP-IAPT curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.
Take responsibility, with supervision from allocated CYPIAPT SFP supervisor for the provision of specialist assessment (within service specification), care planning in conjunction with service user and carer, evaluation of individual care/treatment plans.
To work with and/or shadow colleagues in clinical team in order to develop the core skills and experience that would be required to function as a member of the clinical team following completion of the SFP training. This will include working as part of the multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency working under supervision.
Deliver specific SFP interventions in accordance with the agreed plan of care and supervision and guidance in service and University.
Complete where appropriate to robust risk assessments and risk management plans. Deliver and promote positive risk taking, where appropriate, to improve quality of life and maximise occupational performance/independence appropriate to age.
Utilise agreed outcome measures to review the effectiveness of interventions, as part of the care planning and evaluation process and in accordance with CYPIAPT, service and University guidelines and demands.
Promoting CYPIAPT principles to internal and external colleagues.
Work collaboratively in the implementation of evidence-based practice in CAMHS and to participate in research and other projects as required.

This is a fixed term position for 12 months but with option of being a permanent practitioner post in our CAMHS Service following successful completion of the training course.
This Recruit to Train post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions based on CYP-IAPT principles for children, young people or families using evidence based systemic models for depression and conduct disorder, whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The post is a mix of training based at the University of Northampton & direct therapeutic work based within our CAMHS Service and participation in Family Therapy clinics in a Core CAMHS team. This will require work in service for around 2.5 to 3 days/week and attending the training course either face to face in Northampton or via on-line teaching for the remaining working days. You should be prepared for:
- Travel to university and to meet clinical requirements of the post
- 46 days of university teaching (either on-line of face to face)
- 6 days of attendance at university for assessment
- 20 study days
- 125 hours of independent study time
- Working towards your studies outside of protected study time.
The CAMHS service offers a wide range of support and intervention for children and young people with mental health needs. We are a large and growing service. It is an exciting time to come and join our service particularly alongside our Family and Systemic therapies team.
This role will essentially be 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, although it is essential that you are able to work flexibly around the needs of our CYP and service need, so this may include some flexible working 8am-8pm when needed.
