We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and versatile individuals to join the Trust as a Receptionist/Patient Focus Booking Team and administratorin the Medical Outpatients department. Medical Outpatients is a very busy and interesting environment, having a hard-working and forward-thinking philosophy with patient care at the focus of what we do.

**Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria**:
**All applicants must be**:

- Aged 16+
- Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years
- Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education upon the start of their apprenticeship

**Qualifications and Skills Required**:

- Good general standard of education
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills

**Full time**: 37.5 hours per week

The post holder will be a member of a large admin team and will provide an essential first point of contact between the hospital, patients and their relatives, and all other healthcare professionals. They will deal efficiently and effectively with direct and indirect patient contact.

They will have responsibility for the administration of clinics. They will monitor patient waiting lists according to the Patient Focus Booking policy and will provide professional reception duties. They will need to work flexibly to cover different shifts which will include early, evening and weekend shifts. The post holder will be required to track and collect patient notes and be able to work well autonomously and as part of a team.

They will occasionally take minutes and attend monthly team meetings.

General working days to include Monday to Friday. There is a requirement to work early and late evening shifts as part of an initiative in Medical Outpatients to extend clinic hours: clinic times are between 7.30am and 9pm. Reception team are required to cover between these times.

- To record patient demographics and referrals on the hospital information system (PAS) and departments computer system
- To deal with queries, visitors, and telephone enquires in a helpful and courteous and efficient manner
- To update as necessary PAS and departments computer system in line with the Trust’s policies and procedures on real time data collection and confidentiality.
- To request and return medical notes and to collect from various departments within the Trust
- To carry out filing of letters and any photocopying
- To prepare patient information packs and resources for ward staff
- To attend relevant courses and undertake training necessary to man
