**The operational running of HMP Kilmarnock recently transferred to the Scottish Prison Service, and following a review of estates staffing levels we are now recruiting a Joiner to join the team. This is a great opportunity to be part of a new larger team structure here at our establishment, HMP Kilmarnock.**

The Joiner will support the Estates Management team in all aspects of Estates work. Providing a comprehensive repairs and maintenance service for all of estates building maintenance fabric, installations, replacements, and repairs. You will provide an effective and efficient service to ensure compliance with all statutory legislative requirements, industry guidelines and policy.

**Joiners roles are based on 37 hours per week worked across Monday to Friday and we provide all tools and PPE.**

There will be a requirement for you to periodically work on call hours, and you may need to travel to other establishments and areas. For this reason, a full driving licence that enables the person to drive in the UK is preferred. SPS is willing to consider proposals put forward by applicants to carry out the duties by any other means.

**How do I apply?**

**Applicants must have a recognised apprenticeship in carpentry and/or joinery to a minimum of SVQ Level 3 or equivalent.**
- Please note the annual pay package is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience, and is made up of basic salary plus temporary allowances.
- Responsibilities- Responsible for ensuring all assigned tasks are inspected, tested, repaired or installed in a safe manner compliant with manufacturer's instructions and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines.- Assess, plan and report work requirements to manager. Maintain records through to completion, recording progress on the SPS Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).- Maintain mechanical locks together with the security, operation and record keeping of the establishment lock store and associated documents as per SPS policy.- Ensure that all fire building systems and controls such as doors, seals, alarms, compartmentation etc. are intact and maintained in accordance with the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) Fire Safety Manual.- Become familiar with the operation and maintenance of the various SPS systems. Providing support, advice, and improvement recommendations to the Technical Manager. Assisting other members of the team with their activities as required.- Responsible and accountable for the security of all tools and materials used by you. Maintain a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with local regulations and relevant statutory legislation.**Person Specification**- Qualification RequirementsHave completed a recognised apprenticeship in carpentry and/or joinery at SVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
