Job Purpose

The Scottish Prison Service is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operations Officer to join our team at HMP Kilmarnock. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the operational running of the prison, ensuring the safety and security of staff, offenders, and visitors.
  • Screen, search, and facilitate the entry and exit of individuals from the prison, while maintaining effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Supervise visits between offenders and their families, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  • Monitor security systems, including CCTV, alarms, and communication systems, to maintain the safety and security of the prison.
  • Escort offenders within the prison and externally, as directed by management, to ensure their safe and secure movement.
Person Specification

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also have a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and safety, while demonstrating empathy and compassion towards offenders.

Requirements
  • Basic level of numeracy and literacy skills.
