HMP Kilmarnock is situated approximately three miles south-east of Hurlford in East Ayrshire and housing a range of male prisoner types. We have a fantastic opportunity for an administrative assistant to join our team.

We have an opportunity for an Art Tutor to join our team.

The purpose of Art in prison education is to channel prisoners’ energies into painting and other forms of expression to help them try to understand and address their offending behaviour. The Art Tutor will play an active part in guiding prisoners through the creative process and in encouraging them to see how producing works of art can have an enlightening or cathartic effect and can help them come to terms with their offence.

Working as part of the Offender Learning & Skills team you will be responsible for the delivery of literacy and numeracy to prisoners across a range of abilities embedded within the art activities.

Reporting to the Learning & Skills Manager you will also be responsible for the development and implementation of a specialised learning strategy for offenders with learning difficulties.

**What you need to do the job**:
The successful post holder must have a Level 3 Award in Education and Training or teaching qualification.
They must also hold an Assessor Award. The (Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy is English system).
They must have proven experience of working in an environment that demands strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Experience of a custodial environment would be an advantage.
Similarly, having experience of working with learners from non-traditional backgrounds.

They must respond to identified needs by undertaking self-directed learning, research and training as required.
