At BWC we know our colleagues are our most valuable asset and keeping them informed and engaged is key to our success which is why we are investing in a new Internal Communications and Engagement Strategy and the team to deliver it.

We are looking for an individual with enthusiasm, ideas and the ability to engage with colleagues at all levels. You will have experience working within internal communications to engage staff with a wide range of channels, from newsletters to digital campaigns. You will have experience in creating robust communications campaigns and the ability to think strategically.

As the key support for the Trust’s staff engagement and communication you will have experience of supporting annual staff events and initiatives such as annual staff survey. You will be responsible for the creation of content for our internal audiences and will also support and deputise for the Internal Communications Manager.

In return, you will get the opportunity to work across two leading NHS specialist hospitals and a unique mental health service providing care and support to for children and young people from 0-25 years old. We will invest in you with dedicated budgets to support your development plan and provide opportunities for progressing your skills and career.
- Provide communication and engagement support to the Trust and the delivery of the Trust’s Communication and Engagement strategy.
- Respond to internal requests and demands for internal communications.
- Deputise for the Internal Communications Manager as appropriate.
- Support the management of the internal communications channels and measure and report on their performance.
- Provide office cover and assistance in the event of major stories or issues affecting the Trust.
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota for the Communications Team outside normal working hours, briefing and escalating to colleagues as appropriate and monitoring social media activity. This may involve attending either hospital site at short notice to co-ordinate communications work relating to a major incident. There will also be the need to work at evenings and weekends to support events, meetings, etc,as demand dictates.
- Ensure all statutory and mandatory training is completed on time.
- Take calls from the media and referring them to other members of the team where appropriate.
- Cover for other members of the communications and engagement team when they are on leave.
- To ensure in-house styles and communications standards are met.
