**Job summary**:
The purpose of the International Trade Profession (ITP) is to attract talent, build capability, and retain expertise in trade for Government, including the devolved administrations and overseas. The ITP Team is responsible for designing, developing, and embedding the Profession’s offer. We work collaboratively to ensure the Profession meets the needs of all 3500 of its members.

The Profession’s work is underpinned by three pillars: Great Careers, Great Curriculum, and Great Network. These each include a variety of workstreams including Career Pathways, Professional Standards, Job Shadowing, Network & Community and Learning and Development. Communications and diversity & inclusion are embedded in all our work. The Profession is governed at a strategic level by a cross-Government strategic board and operational oversight is retained by the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) Board. This will involve supporting senior leaders including Crawford Falconer, the UK’s Chief Trade Negotiation Adviser and Government’s Head of International Trade Profession.

As a Higher Executive Officer (HEO) workstream lead for the Profession you will lead delivery of a number of different areas of the Profession. Workstreams could include:

- Careers: Creating a comprehensive career development offer for trade professionals, including further development of the ITP Career Pathways Guide to showcase options available to trade professionals.
- Communications and Engagement: Supporting the Profession to both attract new members and engage existing members with our offer through communications and engagement activity.
- Learning and Development (L&D): Leading on regular updates to the Profession’s L&D prospectus, maintaining relationships with the joint FCDO Trade Faculty - ITP Trade Capability group, and maintaining effective working relationships with the Profession’s L&D providers.
- Governance and project management: supporting the delivery of key governance events including the quarterly Heads of Profession board and SRO Board. Monitoring project streams progress against workplans.

**Job description**:
We are recruiting to multiple roles in the team and so the below accountabilities reflect the breadth of work that may be undertaken, reflecting the various Profession areas outlined in the Role Summary.
- Develop and manage a network of contacts across HMG who are engaged in the Profession.
- Manage Profession membership numbers and internal communications, including use of SharePoint to deliver content.
- Work with your networks to plan and organise events and seminars for trade professionals.
- Manage monthly reporting into senior stakeholders, assessing progress against the team workplan and strategy, and working closely with the team lead and senior stakeholders to overcome delivery challenges.
- Collaborate with Department for Business and Trade, cross-Government and overseas networks in designing, developing, and embedding the Profession’s offer.
- Represent the Profession at internal and cross-Government forums.
- Establish excellent working-level relationships with colleagues from across Government and act as a day-to-day point of contact for Profession queries.
- Develop workstreams and shape initiatives of various pillars of the Profession.
- Present updates and propose new or improved initiatives to stakeholders at all levels across the Profession.

**Person specification**:
**Essential Criteria**
- Experience of working with stakeholders from different teams or organisations, building positive working relationships, and confidence in dealing with senior officials.
- Applicants should be able to demonstrate their ability to self-start and deliver discreet projects as well as being team player with a strong customer focus.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Experience in planning or project managing events would be useful for some aspects of the role.
