The post holder will be a member of the Cancer Services team that is specifically dedicated to supporting the streamlined pathway of cancer patients though the Trust.

The main purpose of the MDT Co-ordinator role is to support the clinical team and patient pathways at the Cancer MDT Meeting to ensure that the Trust meets the requirements of the national Cancer Waiting Time Standards. This will involve collecting data from a variety of sources and entering the data items into the Trust’s cancer database Somerset. The post holder will need excellent organisational and communication skills and a good attention for detail to be successful in the role.

The post holder will be responsible for arranging pre and post MDT meetings where required with clinical teams and liaising closely and supervising their band 4 tracker workload to ensure all patients receive the upmost care. The post holder will ensure that all patients progress through their pathway post MDT, ensuring all treatment plans and next steps are in place or escalated. The aim of an MDTC is to provide the highest quality of care to patients, and ensure they are being processed effectively and efficiently through the cancer pathway.

MDT Co-ordination

Work in line with the local operational policy for the specific tumour group which would include:
Arrange, cover and co-ordinate the weekly/fortnightly/monthly MDT meetings for designated specialties to ensure they are run in accordance with the requirements of the national Manual of Cancer Services - this includes meetings outside of the main treatment MDTs, such as, Diagnostic MDTs.

Ensure all areas of the MDT are prepped in line with the requirements of the MDT, Specific list needs, case note availability, imaging and all required documentation as well as arranging where required pre and post MDT meetings

Ensure that all required COSD and Audit data is captured at the MDT meeting and transferred onto Somerset - this will include Staging Data, Performance scores, next steps and other vital data. Ensure prompts are issued at MDT when this does not occur.
