An exceptionally rare opportunity to join our excellent planning service at West Oxfordshire District Council as a Principal Planning Policy Officer has arisen, with the current postholder retiring after more than 35 years of service.

You will be joining a small, tight-knit team to help spearhead and shape a variety of high profile projects including the development of a new Local Plan for West Oxfordshire.

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Planning Policy Officer to join a dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic planning policies, enabling positive change, whilst being a cog in aiding strategic council priorities, including the new Local Plan 2041.

You will need to have both technical expertise and strong leadership qualities to support the range of strategic-level development proposals and service improvement of the Planning policy service within the changing backdrop at a local and national level. You will be working at a specialist level and the responsibilities in the role profile reflect this.

**You will need**:

- Educated to Planning related degree or equivalent in a relevant profession with relevant on the job experience.
- Full Membership/ qualification for the RTPI.
- Substantial experience at Senior Planner level.
- Ability to inspire and successfully motivate others towards shared objectives.
- Deliver commitments and take ownership of own caseload, reshaping of plans to deliver required outcomes.
