Proactively tracking all patients with cancer or suspected cancer and take appropriate action to ensure a timely diagnosis and treatment for the patients in order to achieve the access targets. To escalate all potential problems that may lead to a cancer breach to the MDT Coordinator / Patient Services Manager in order that these can be resolved. Under the guidance of the MDT coordinators ensure all patients with cancer or suspected cancer have booked appointments and treatment in line with the cancer access patient pathways. As instructed to locate and retrieve case-notes, x-rays and histology reports from all areas of the hospital ready for the MDT meetings.

To be competent in the use of other Trusts IT systems specifically PAS, the Trusts Radiology System (CRIS), Pathology system, Automated Letters software and any other Information System that may need to be accessed to support the collection of cancer data. Under instruction provide relevant information as required. Plan work load to ensure all the patient and clinical needs are met, whilst ensuring the cancer waiting times and booking targets are met. Produce reports for clinicians/managers Maintain contact with the Yorkshire Cancer Network for advise/queries on Cancer Waiting Times that cannot be resolved in-house.

Recording the call and sharing any decisions made with the MDT co-ordinators where appropriate, (ad hoc). Ensure regular contact is maintained with clinicians, administrative staff, other local Trusts and the Yorkshire Cancer Network in the exchange of sensitive information, adhering to Data Protection and Caldicott Guidance. Develop and maintain a dynamic understanding of national and local standards around Cancer Data Collection and Cancer Dataset delivery.
