Core Responsibilities To identify the need for new clinical pathways and work with team members and key stakeholders to define, develop, implement, and sustain these pathways. To provide expert input to clinical pathway design, development, and implementation, and to other areas of clinical development or governance as required. To ensure pathway development is aligned to YAS, ICS and national NHS strategies, priorities, and guidelines. To establish close working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders relevant to clinical pathway development and governance Responsible for creating and spreading key messages relating to clinical pathways within own area of expertise.

To communicate information about operational or clinical performance, clinical or system change, and investigation or audit outcomes related to clinical pathways both within and outside the organisation. To represent the Trust and the clinical directorate in a professional manner at internal and external meetings, such as: pathway development steering groups; commissioning meetings; clinical governance meetings; and presentations to various stakeholder groups. To provide expert clinical input to the development of the electronic patient care record and other digital initiatives related to clinical pathway development. To ensure clinical pathways within own remit are safe and well-governed, in line with YAS policies and procedures.

To employ effective communication skills - including active listening, negotiation, influencing and relationship-building - across departmental and organisational boundaries. To participate in and contribute to clinical audits, by planning and providing clinical leadership to audit programmes, gathering, and analysing data, and producing audit reports relevant to clinical pathways. To work with the clinical audit team to promote and disseminate the results of clinical audits. To investigate untoward incidents using established investigation systems and ensure appropriate action is taken or escalated as appropriate.

Act as a role model with professional clinical leadership behaviours recognised by others, especially frontline staff. It is expected the post-holder's level of clinical knowledge and skills are current and relevant both in terms of practice and pathways. Maintain own professional registration in line with the requirements set by the regulating authority for their profession. Maintain current clinical knowledge and skills within own scope of practice.

Respond to emergencies as required, within own scope of practice - provide expert clinical care working as part of clinical teams responding to patients. To participate in and to provide cross-cover to other clinical workstreams as required. To work effectively as part of the Clinical Directorate team, and work in partnership with other departments to achieve trust objectives and key performance indicators. Deputise for the Lead Paramedic for Clinical Pathways as required.
