This is an exciting opportunity to work as a system integrator clinical lead for Planned Care (Cancer) in the Clinical and Care Professional Leadership Business Unit at the ICB in Leeds. You will bring clinical experience and insight to challenge and influence the system to deploy its resources responsibly. You will do this to deliver the best value clinical outcomes for the benefit of the people of Leeds.

This role is for a minimum of 8 hours per week. The post holder will join our team of Clinical Leads. Applications will be considered from any qualified clinical professional with a desire to provide clinical leadership. Applications from primary or secondary care medics (GP or Consultant) may wish to work on a sessional basis under a 'Contract for Service' arrangement.

We will support you in your leadership development and will provide you with a wide range of leadership experience to suit your needs and interests aligned with our strategy to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work as a system integrator clinical lead for Planned Care (Cancer) and independent subject matter expert bringing clinical knowledge, experience, insight and leadership to drive evidence-based decision making.

The system integrator clinical lead for Planned Care (Cancer) will take an overall system perspective, regardless of their provider affiliations and, identify stakeholders from within and external to the ICB in Leeds to influence and move the vision and strategy forwards.

The post-holder will contribute to the NHS Triple Aim of improving patient experience (better care), reducing cost (better value) and improving the health of populations (better health).

The ultimate goal is to improve services for the people of Leeds and, deliver value for money whilst reducing health inequalities across the city.

The post-holder will work in collaboration with clinical lead colleagues from other places in West Yorkshire to support fulfilment of the West Yorkshire Cancer Alliance delivery plan.

The post-holder will chair the Leeds Cancer Population Board.

Job responsibilities

The post-holder will work as a System Integrator Clinical Lead and independent subject matter expert bringing clinical knowledge, experience, insight and leadership to drive evidence-based decision making.

The System Integrator Clinical Lead will take an overall system perspective, regardless of their provider affiliations and, identify stakeholders from within and external to the ICB in Leeds to influence and move the vision and strategy forwards.

The post-holder will contribute to the NHS Triple Aim of improving patient experience (better care), reducing cost (better value) and improving the health of populations (better health).

The ultimate goal is to improve services for the citizens of Leeds and, deliver value for money whilst reducing health inequalities across the city.

The post-holder will focus on Planned Care with a special interest in Cancer and will:

have a key role in developing and agreeing revised 2ww cancer pathways, ensuring that they consider primary care considerations and that they are agreeable and workable from a primary care perspective.

be responsible for gauging primary care opinion on developments within Cancer and where necessary taking proposed changes through primary care governance routes LMC liaison committee.

monitoring national and local developments in primary care policy and research on Cancer and ensuring that these are implemented in Leeds where appropriate

be responsible for providing clinical oversight of work programmes sitting within the Cancer prevention, screening and awareness workstream.

have working knowledge of health inequalities in Leeds and will ensure that these are considered and tackled within work to develop pathways.

work in collaboration with clinical lead colleagues from other places in West Yorkshire to support fulfilment of the West Yorkshire Cancer Alliance delivery plan. This will involve dedicating time to West Yorkshire priority work areas and providing input to Optimal Pathway Groups

offer flexibility in their working arrangements to enable collaboration with WY colleagues, including endeavouring to identify a session in common where leads from all five places are working on West Yorkshire priorities at the same time each week

chair the Cancer Population Board.

The post-holder, jointly with the Programme Director/ Senior Programme Lead, will take responsibility for the Cancer programme clinical strategy and outcomes framework and their delivery including service development, clinical governance, long term planning, project and programme planning, risk management, financial management, governance and evaluation.
