Daily operational Management of the pathology Department at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust. Deputise for the Deputy Director of Operation Pathology. Operate the Pathology Department within relevant legislation and accreditation frameworks as assessed by bodies such as UKAS, MHRA, HSE and CQC to ensure high quality service provision. Driving the implementation of the accreditation process and monitoring the delivery of action plans, to ensure quality and safety is optimised in the Pathology Department.

Work with their Laboratory Team to drive high performance, focusing on the achievement of key metrics and KPIs, including Turnaround Time (TAT). Provide clear leadership to all levels in the Clinical Services, ensuring that all staff are appropriately managed and given opportunities for development and that they are efficient, effective, engaged and motivated. Develop and implement strategic and operational plans and strategies, involving clinicians and patients as well as other stakeholders, as appropriate (e.g. Primary Care Trusts), to meet the needs of patients and progress the Clinical Service Groups Targets and performance objectives in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Operation Pathology and Womens.

Contribute to cost and service improvement initiatives to develop services, identify efficiencies or resolve significant operational issues. Contribute to the preparation of the annual business planning and budget setting cycle for the appropriate specialties in line with corporate guidance on methodology, content and timescales. Lead on planning for delivery to local contracts and service level agreements and ensure budgets support the capacity required for this. Regularly review services within the Clinical Services and how they are provided in order to ensure they continue to meet expectations in terms of appropriateness, safety, quality and efficiency.

Remain up-to-date with relevant guidance and service benchmarking in order to recognised best practice and higher standards of quality. Ensure that service and process redesign is used to keep services safe and relevant to patients, staff and local strategy. Participate with the Senior Manager On Call rota. Carry out any other duty that reasonably falls within the general nature and level of responsibility of the post.
