**Job summary**:
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS foundation Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support the senior nursing team within the Emergency Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. As part of the team you will provide nonclinical support functions to our clinical team.

The post holder will have experience as an administrator and will be expected to support systems and processes which underpin the smooth running of the department.

It is therefore essential that you possess excellent organisational, communication skills and be proficient with IT systems.

To support you in this role you will have access to the Trust induction programme and ongoing learning and development opportunities, provide secretarial and administrative support to the lead senior sisters and nursing team, acting as personal assistant whilst being the first point of contact for all non-clinical issues on behalf of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Your responsibilities will include drafting of letters, replying to correspondence and managing diaries for the senior team. In addition, you will ensure Annual Leave is correct and any queries are managed or escalated to the senior team. We will expect you to schedule appointments using our in-house systems to which full training will be provided.

Ideally, you've worked within a similar capacity, with experience in providing all round administrative support. Your workload will be varied and with that challenging, however being able to multitask in an efficient manner whilst maintaining a caring and helpful attitude, to make a difference to your team and the patients that rely on us. You'll have excellent communication and organisational skills and be confident to make judgements unaided. You will be able to work proactively to problem solve and work on your own initiative.

We will expect you to be able to Data Input accurately whilst using a variety of Trust IT systems in a timely way. Review and action electronic correspondence.

Be able to order stock, supplies and fulfil ad-hoc ordering requests that are unable to be completed by our housekeepers. You will need to assist in the introduction of new technology and new working practices to ensure the smooth running of the Office.

**Essential**:

- Good General Education (eg. GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4
- Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in an administrative environment

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
- Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience of using IT systems

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working in a busy environment
- Experience of working in Healthcare
