The Paediatric team at UHB are keen to recruit an individual who is hard working, organised and passionate about providing an excellent service to fulfil our Ward Administrator role.
This person will join a team of highly skilled, friendly staff and work closely with the Senior Nursing team to ensure administrative roles are completed.
The applicant must be able to communicate effectively, have a high standard of written and IT skills.
Confidentiality is an important element of this role and the post holder must be professional at all times.
The post is full time, 37.5 hours per week, the post holder will work in an office within the Paediatric unit at Heartlands hospital. There is some scope for flexibility or a part time job share, so this can be discussed if it appeals to you.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
We have over 100 nurses working within Paediatrics, the staff are supported and managed by a team of Senior Nurses.
The senior team seek to employ an experienced administrator who can provide secretarial and administrative support, act as a personal assistant and be the first point of contact for all non-clinical issues.
The post holder will provide support to ensure staff records are maintained, organised and filed securely.
Meeting minutes are taken and recorded accurately, letters are typed and sent to specified persons.
Information to promote and improve the patient experience is designed, produced and displayed as per request.
Phone calls are taken and messages relayed accordingly.
Appointments and meetings are arranged when required.
Local and trust wide IT systems are used correctly to record necessary information and communicate with other departments.
The Ward Administrator will work co-operatively with colleagues, as part of the team and perform additional duties as and when directed to enable the ward nursing staff to undertake direct patient care.

- Numerate and Literate
- GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English Language or equivalent.
- RSA 2 or equivalent word processing

- NVQ Level 3 in admin / related field or equivalent experience.

- Experience of working in either a customer facing role or within the general public/patients.
- Experience of a previous admin role in a Health Care Environment.
