**Job Description: Buyer/ Stock Controller**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Procurement Management: Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for new assets, materials, equipment, and supplies. Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to secure favorable agreements. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that may arise. Continuously assess supplier performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Inventory Control: Establish and maintain an organized and efficient inventory management system. Track stock levels, monitor usage patterns, and anticipate future needs to avoid stockouts or excess inventory. Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies. Implement procedures for proper storage, handling, and disposal of materials.
- Vendor Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Communicate effectively to convey requirements, resolve conflicts, and ensure a smooth procurement process. Stay up to date with industry trends, product advancements, and market conditions to identify new suppliers and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Project Support: Collaborate with operations managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and timelines. Provide accurate and timely information on material availability, lead times, and alternative sourcing options.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, purchase orders, delivery receipts, and invoices. Generate regular reports on procurement status, inventory levels, and cost analysis. Use data analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimise inventory levels, and streamline procurement processes.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, building codes, and safety guidelines when procuring materials and equipment. Conduct quality checks on incoming goods to verify conformance to specifications. Address any quality issues with suppliers and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Cost Control: Monitor and control procurement costs to achieve budgetary objectives. Identify opportunities to consolidate orders, negotiate discounts, and explore alternative suppliers without compromising quality or project requirements. Collaborate with finance and project teams to track and manage project expenses effectively.

**Requirements**:
Proven experience as a buyer, procurement specialist, or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and suppliers.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and negotiation techniques.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with suppliers, contractors, and project teams.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

**Salary**: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
