Job Description

Pure 4 Recruitment Limited is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join their team. As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Product Development team in the creation and launch of new products.

Main Responsibilities

As an Assistant Buyer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Seasonal Kick-Offs
    • Assist the Product Specialist in researching the latest market trends.
    • Assist the Product Specialist in preparing comprehensive shop reports.
    • Assist the Product Specialist in creating engaging presentations using Canva.
  • Range Building
    • Collaborate with the Product Specialist to conduct in-depth market research, identifying market requirements, gaps, trends, and customer preferences.
    • Ensure range plans are up-to-date with all relevant information.
    • Maintain accurate costing sheets.
    • Collaborate with the Design team to keep product decks fresh and up-to-date.
    • Implement and manage sample management, including a clear log of samples by vendor and stage.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to develop products that meet market demands.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure all costs and product information is up-to-date.
    • Complete specification sheets detailing every component of a product to ensure products are competitive and meet material costs.
  • Product Sourcing / Supplier Management
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential new suppliers.
    • Complete new factory profile forms and ensure all new factories are approved by QA.
    • Negotiate samples with factories to minimize costs.
    • Regularly communicate with suppliers via video calls to maintain and strengthen relationships.
    • Sources new trends and hot products.
    • Create product briefs for suppliers and factories, working with Design and QA to ensure standards are met.
  • Critical Path Management
    • Assist in product development critical path management, ensuring product critical paths and weekly workloads are on track to meet deadlines from concept to pre-production.
    • Ensure deadlines are met and follow up on all sample issues to resolve and drive to completion.
    • Monitor order critical path with Merch to ensure intake dates are met.
    • Continuously chase artwork, samples, and testing to ensure CP dates are met.
    • Deliver samples on time, to quality standards, and within cost price range to achieve target margin.
    • Flag issues at all stages and communicate to mitigate issues and delays.
    • Liaise with internal license departments and external license teams to push approvals.
  • Showroom / PD Room Management
    • Oversee your designated areas in the showroom/PD room.
    • Ensure all mock-ups/samples are presented in the best form for seasonal launches, working cross-collaboratively with internal teams.
    • Ensure product bays are always stocked with no missing samples, managing internal teams with additional sample requests if applicable.
    • Ensure costing sheets are always up-to-date and match all specifications of products on display in the showroom.
    • Identify new ways of presenting products and suggest changes that may be required.
    • Own sample management, implementing and leading new sampling procedures for both office and PD room.
