Job Description

Pure 4 Recruitment Limited is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join their team. As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Product Development team in the creation and launch of new products.

Main Responsibilities

As an Assistant Buyer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Seasonal Kick-Offs
    • Assist the Product Specialist in researching the latest trends and market requirements.
    • Prepare comprehensive comp shop reports to inform product development decisions.
    • Collaborate with the Product Specialist to create engaging presentations using Canva.
  • Range Building
    • Conduct in-depth market research to identify market gaps and trends, and customer preferences.
    • Develop and maintain up-to-date range plans, incorporating relevant market information.
    • Ensure costing sheets are accurate and reflect the latest product specifications.
    • Collaborate with the Product Specialist to develop product decks, working closely with the design team to ensure they are fresh and engaging.
    • Implement and manage a sample management system, tracking samples by vendor and stage.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to develop products that meet market requirements.
    • Work with suppliers to ensure all costs and product information are up-to-date.
    • Complete specification sheets detailing every component of a product to ensure it meets market standards.
  • Product Sourcing and Supplier Management
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential new suppliers.
    • Complete new factory profile forms and ensure all new factories are approved by QA.
    • Negotiate samples with factories to minimize costs to the business.
    • Regularly communicate with suppliers via video calls to maintain and strengthen relationships.
    • Sources new trends and hot products to stay ahead of the competition.
    • Create product briefs for suppliers and factories, working closely with design and QA to ensure they meet the latest standards.
  • Critical Path Management
    • Assist in managing the product development critical path, ensuring deadlines are met and projects are completed on time.
    • Monitor order critical path with Merch to ensure intake dates are met.
    • Continuously chase artwork, samples, and testing to ensure critical path deadlines are met.
    • Deliver samples on time, to the required quality standard, and within the cost price range to achieve target margin.
    • Flag any issues at all stages and communicate with stakeholders to mitigate delays.
    • Liaise with internal license teams and external license teams to push approvals.
  • Showroom and PD Room Management
    • Oversee your designated areas in the showroom and PD room.
    • Ensure all mock-ups and samples are presented in the best possible form for seasonal launches, working closely with internal teams.
    • Manage the product bays, ensuring they are always fully stocked with no missing samples, and coordinate with internal teams for additional sample requests.
    • Ensure costing sheets are always up-to-date and match all product specifications on display in the showroom.
    • Identify new ways to present products and suggest changes that may be required.
    • Take ownership of sample management, implementing and leading new sampling procedures for both the office and PD room.
