**Job overview**:
An exciting opportunity for a existing B3 Dietetics Assistant (DA) with experience of managing a nutrition support caseload has arisen to work in the Oldham Community Dietetics Team. The team provides assessment and interventions for adults with predominantly nutrition support needs. We work closely with palliative care team with home enteral feeding needs. The service is generally delivered in care homes, patient's own home and some patients are also seen in a clinic environment. You will be expected to complete specific competencies to build skills to a band 4 level. We expect the competencies to take 6 months.

We are a team of therapists who work together with patients and their family/support network to address nutritional needs of clients with different conditions.

We are supported by a Team Lead and a clinical lead dietitians. We are innovative and pride ourselves on offering evidence based, quality care to patients with dietetics need.

**Main duties of the job**:
The role will involve working alongside the dietetics team in Oldham community to deliver best possible care for patients in Oldham. You will independently manage a caseload of nutrition support patients with some overview by the registered dietitians. Once competencies are completed, your post will be uplifted to a band 4 allowing you more autonomy and independence. The competencies will involve working alongside palliative care patients and patient on tube feeds.

The role will involve face-face/telephone contact with patients including input with home enteral feed discharges. You will have your own patient caseload of follow up calls to assess tolerance to supplements and dietetic treatment plan. This is a primarily clinical role but will include administrative tasks.

A formal Assistant Practitioner qualification is desirable, but alternatively a minimum of 3 years experience working alongside a dietetic team and managing a caseload of nutrition support patients will be accepted. Willingness to work towards 6 month structured competencies under the supervision of the senior dietitians is expected.

We require a motivated, compassionate and dynamic person to work within this established service. Good communication and organisational skills, empathy and flexibility are essential qualities.

- Experience of working as a DA
- Experience in implementing dietetic care plans

- Familiar and experienced in working in the community
- Some understanding of Enteral tube feeding
- Experience of working with care home staff

- IT skills including Word and Excel
- Good communication skills
- Understanding of patient record systems
