Clinical responsibilitiesAct as an independent specialist practitioner and be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work, including a clinical caseload.Work independently to undertake nutritional assessments and calculate nutritional requirements of patients using anthropometry, whilst also taking into account medical, social and cultural factors.Communicate evidence based nutritional and dietary advice in an understandable form.To be jointly responsible with others, to develop dietetic services that will lead to opportunities to improve the health of patients with a Learning Disability.Prioritise your workload to plan your day-to-day provision of dietetic support to your caseload.Ensure your own dietetic knowledge is up to date and you are proactive at keeping abreast of current developments in your specialist area.To act as an autonomous practitioner to provide expert nutritional advice. This might involve seeking advice from peers within, and if appropriate, outside of The Trust. Managerial and AdministrationDecide daily on priorities for own work area balancing patient related and professional demands.Contribute to team meetings and project developments.Complete and identify projects and meet deadlines.Record patient activity data and communicate with other health care professionals, parents and carers.Share the responsibility for maintaining dietetic resource files. Education and TrainingContribute to the training of pre-registration dietetic students and Learning Disability students on clinical placement including clinical work, tutorials, feedback and assessment when requested.Plan, deliver and evaluate formal and informal training to defined groups, including other health care professionals, staff and patientsDevelop educational resources, which are evidence based and acceptable to patients and carers.Undertake group education sessions with patients, carers and staff on food and nutrition.Clinical GovernanceWork within the Health and Care Professions Council, Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and Standards of Proficiency.Observe strict confidentiality with regards to patient data and any information in line with the Data Protection Act.
Attend trust induction training and mandatory training programmes.Identify personal training needs through participation inContinuous Professional Development activities and IndividualPerformance Development Reviews.Maintain a personal portfolio as evidence of competence to practice.Contribute to defined audit projects as part of clinical practice.Contribute to the development of evidence based treatment policies, protocols, standards and guidelines
