Highly Specialist Dietitian Diabetes

As a registered dietitian you will be an integral member of the MDT Diabetes team providing high quality, person centered care to patients with diabetes. With recent advances in medical technologies, this is an exciting time to work in the speciality of diabetes. You will be supported by a band 7 diabetes dietitian and will work closely with a friendly team of diabetes specialist nurses and consultants.

Working within the outpatient setting you will provide education to patients with diabetes who have complex dietary needs. Your caseload will include MDT clinics as well as dietitian led clinics and group education sessions. You will require skills in carbohydrate counting, insulin dose adjustment, insulin pump therapy, flash/continuous glucose monitoring, carbohydrate modification and gestational diabetes. You will deliver DAFNE structured Education.

Ideally you will have experience in diabetes although training can be provided. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to work within a changing environment and provide evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to this post. You will participate in regular personal development reviews and have access to professional training. You will be actively involved in regular trust wide audits.

The department is an established trainer for, P2 and P3 placement dietetic students. You will be actively involved in training these students, and you will also provide training for a variety of health professionals whilst being a source of support to all colleagues around Diabetes care.
