Oldham, United Kingdom Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and compassionate assistant psychologist to work alongside our clinical psychologist for paediatric diabetes. We are offering a fixed term post (24 months) that is hosted by Oldham CAMHS Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, but will work within the paediatric diabetes service across Bury, Oldham and Rochdale.

You will get to work with children, young people and families and alongside a range of disciplines including psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, consultant paediatricians, paediatric diabetes specialist nurses and ward staff.

We are passionate about supporting staff wellbeing and development and offer a range of opportunities for our team to continue to develop, including high quality supervision, reflective group discussions and psychological therapies training days. We will support your career development by agreeing a collaborative development plan and supporting you to develop your knowledge and skills.

You will be working alongside the clinical psychologist for paediatric diabetes to support the delivery of an evidence based, empathic and effective service. This can include
- Supporting the design, implementation and evaluation of psychological input and thinking to the paediatric diabetes service
- Supporting mental health and psychological assessments and care plans using a range of psychological models (e.g. compassion focused therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, behavioural activation, attachment and interpersonal models)
- Completing cognitive assessments, writing accessible reports and offering support to case managers to feedback the findings
- Supporting evidence-based practice and service delivery by completing literature and research reviews
- Support the development, implementation and evaluation of service improvement projects
- Creating and updating therapeutic and information resources
- Contributing to teamwork through reflective practice, team meetings, peer supervision and training
- Completing clinical observations to inform assessments and formulations

At Pennine Care you’ll do more than join something - you’ll be valued for who you are; you’ll be making a difference and be part of something good and important.

In the latest NHS staff survey, we were ranked as the best place to work out of all the mental health and learning disability trusts in the North West.

Our colleagues are the beating heart and pride of our organisation. Everyone contributes towards our vision of a happier and more hopeful life for everyone in our communities.

Our strong values of kindness, fairness, ingenuity and determination guide us - they are fundamental to who we are, wherever we are.

Equality diversity and inclusion is at the top of our agenda. We believe that a diverse, inclusive and engaged culture is vital; that everyone’s value should be recognised and respected.

We proactively challenge injustices, and are the only Trust in the North West to publicly recognise our commitment to becoming anti-racist and supporting our transgender and non-binary colleagues. We also have thriving staff networks to make sure everyone has a voice.

We’ve got big ambitions for the future and a clear path to get there. You’ll be supported to achieve and upskill, with opportunities to learn and progress.

We care for our colleagues and offer a range of health and wellbeing support; such as a dedicated wellbeing service, flexible working options for work-life balance, plus regular wellbeing sessions and courses.
