**Job overview**:
An opportunity has arisen within the Diagnostic and Pharmacy Directorate, Haematology and Blood Transfusion (Bury, Oldham and Rochdale Care Organisations), as an Assistant to the Specialist Nurse Practitioners of Transfusion and the Blood Transfusion Laboratory staff.

A key element of the role will be working to enable the Trust to comply with the Blood Standards and Quality Regulations 2005 and maintain traceability of blood and blood components.

**Main duties of the job**:
Duties will include red cells and blood component traceability report compilation, case note retrieval and review of both manual and computerised information and data base management. Laboratory duties will include issues relating to red cells and blood component wastage. The post holder may be required to assist with the training and education of staff involved in the blood transfusion process and may support the team in the arrangement of meetings, taking minutes and dealing with telephone enquiries as appropriate.

You will be motivated, enthusiastic, have good communication skills and work well within a team. The maintenance of patient confidentiality and excellent customer care skills are essential to this post.
